Rugs We Carry

Most of our rugs are hand-knotted from wool and cotton, so each one is a single piece with its own color variations. Every rug in the store is new.

  • Oushak rugs: soft, faded-look palettes and large open designs. The style comes from Uşak, Turkey, and suits both traditional and modern rooms.
  • Kazak rugs: bold geometric medallions and rich reds, blues and ivories, inspired by tribal Caucasian weaving.
  • Heriz and Persian rugs from Iran: including Heriz, Hamadan and Ahar, known for durable wool and classic Persian designs.
  • Classic Oriental designs: Haji Baba, Mogul and Ariana rugs with traditional Persian patterns, finely knotted in Pakistan.
  • Suzani rugs: colorful floral motifs drawn from Central Asian embroidery.
  • Transitional and modern: overdyed rugs, Berber styles and banana silk with a soft sheen.
  • Flatweaves: Soumak, kilim and Aubusson rugs, which are thin, reversible-looking and great under dining tables.
  • Turkish patchwork rugs: pieced together from sections of hand-woven rug for a one-of-a-kind look.

Sizes

The biggest selection is in the two most-requested room sizes, 8x10 and 9x12, plus larger rugs around 10x13. We also carry 6x9 rugs, small 3x5 and 4x6 accent rugs, and hallway runners about 2'6" wide in lengths up to around 12'. Not sure what size you need? Read our guide: How to Choose a Rug Size for Your Living Room.

Where the Rugs Come From

Our rugs are woven in Pakistan, India, Iran, Turkey, Nepal and China. Each listing in our online catalog shows its style, exact size and country of origin, so you can shortlist rugs before you visit.

See Them in Person

Rugs look different in person. Color, texture and sheen all change with the light, so we recommend seeing a rug in the store before you buy. Browse online, note the rugs you like, and we'll have them ready to look at. Can't make it to Frederick? Call us at (301) 696-0066 and we can arrange FedEx shipping.

Rug FAQ

Can I try a rug at home before I buy it?

Yes. With our On-Approval program you can take a rug home for up to 7 days to see it with your own lighting and furniture. We ask for a copy of your driver's license and a credit card on file. There's no charge if you bring it back.

Do you clean or repair rugs?

We don't offer cleaning or repair services. A hand-knotted wool rug needs very little care to last for decades, though. See our guide: How to Care for a Wool Rug.

Do you accept trade-ins or buy used rugs?

No. We don't take trade-ins, and every rug we sell is new.

Do you ship rugs?

Yes, on request. Rugs aren't sold for shipping through the online catalog, but we can ship by FedEx. Call us at (301) 696-0066 with the rug number and your address and we'll arrange it.

What's the difference between hand-knotted and machine-made rugs?

A hand-knotted rug is tied knot by knot on a loom and can last for generations; a machine-made rug is produced on a power loom, often from synthetic fiber. Read more: Hand-Knotted vs Machine-Made Rugs.
